Job Title CT Technologist
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CT Technologist to perform high-quality CT scans, general X-rays, and fluoroscopy exams, including portable procedures, for patients of all ages. You’ll assist in diagnosing medical conditions by producing clear and accurate imaging as ordered by physicians. This role requires flexibility, strong technical skills, and a commitment to patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Perform CT scans, general radiology, and fluoroscopy exams according to protocols.
Ensure correct patient positioning and prepare equipment for imaging.
Administer IV contrast as ordered; monitor patient safety before, during, and after procedures.
Explain procedures and review patient history and contrast questionnaire.
Report critical findings to appropriate personnel.
Assist physicians with invasive procedures when needed.
Document exams in hospital information systems (HIS/RIS), including charges and usage.
Follow radiation safety, infection control, and hospital safety policies.
Supervise and educate radiology students in clinical settings.
Support patient transport and manage exam paperwork.
Participate in continuing education to stay current with best practices.
Education & Certification Requirements
Completion of an AMA-accredited Radiologic Technology Program (required)
ARRT (R) certification (required)
ARRT (CT) certification within 2 years of hire (required)
BLS Certification – AHA “Healthcare Provider” (required before orientation completion)
For agency/non-hospital candidates: Must apply for Virginia Radiologic Technologist License before hire and obtain within 90 days
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of CT experience in a hospital setting preferred
Skills & Qualifications
Proficient in human anatomy, cross-sectional imaging, physiology, and medical terminology
Strong communication skills with patients, peers, and physicians
Comfortable working with all age groups (from newborns to elderly)
Ability to work accurately and safely under pressure
Experience supervising and educating radiography students
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
Must be available for rotating shifts, call-backs, weekends, and holidays
Physical & Sensory Requirements
Able to lift 10–50 lbs and perform frequent standing, walking, lifting, and movement
Strong visual and auditory abilities to interpret imaging and communicate effectively
Use of various imaging equipment and technology
Requires attention to detail, critical thinking, and organizational skills
Background Check Requirements
Third-party background screening
VA State Police or WV State fingerprinting (depending on state)
